🌆“Zona Romántica” is the informal name for an area in southern Puerto Vallarta that includes the colonias Emiliano Zapata, Alta Vista and Amapas
It’s also commonly called “Old Town” (or “Viejo Vallarta”) or the “South Side.”
The ambience is a mix of traditional-town charm and beachside/bohemian vibe: cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, small hotels/hostels/condos, art galleries, cafés, and a lot within walking distance.
🏖️ What you can find there — Beaches, Food, Culture & More
The area includes some of the city’s most famous beaches: Playa Los Muertos (with its pier), plus Playa Olas Altas and smaller beaches around Amapas.
There’s a great variety of places to eat — from traditional Mexican “cenadurías” and taco stands to fine-dining restaurants, sidewalk cafés, and international cuisine.
The arts, culture, and shopping scene is strong: galleries, artisan shops, handmade crafts, local markets (e.g. a farmers’ market in the nearby park on Saturdays in season), bookshops, small boutiques, etc.
